Personnel Moves

Manufacturing

Westinghouse Electric Co. appointed Mike Kirst regional vice president, customer relations and sales for Central and Eastern Europe, including Russia.


Banking and finance

• Peter Vaccaro was named executive vice president, state sales executive, for Pennsylvania business banking at National City Bank.

• CIM Investment Management Inc. hired Steven Maslek as chief administrative officer and Antoine L. Smalls as senior operations specialist.

• Arthur Hazen Jr. joined BPU Investment Management Inc. as an Assistant Vice President.

Accounting

At Schneider Downs & Co. Inc., Roy Lydic, Kathy Petrucci and John Popies were promoted to shareholder. Lydic's experience is with audit, review and compilation and tax engagements. Petrucci's experience is with corporate, partnership and individual taxation matters, including compliance and planning issues. Popies' experience is with audit and review and compilation.

Legal

• Tobin M. Nelson joined the Pittsburgh office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP as an associate in its business and finance practice. He will focus on mergers and acquisitions, finance and restructuring, securities and tax.

• John A. Bass, a Grogan Graffam P.C. shareholder and a member of the firm's professional liability practice group, was elected to the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. Bass concentrates his practice in medical malpractice and nursing home defense.

• Marla N. Presley, an associate in the Pittsburgh office of Ogletree Deakins was named chair-elect of the Allegheny County Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division. Presley focuses her practice in employment law and general civil litigation.

• Dennis Mehigan was promoted to chief administrative officer at Pietragallo Gordon Alfano Bosick & Raspanti LLP.

• The Homer S. Brown Law Association elected Nicole H. King president. She focuses on corporate and intellectual property law at Meyer, Unkovic & Scott.

Advertising, public relations

Stephanie Smilak joined MarketSpace Communications as graphic designer.

Education

• Lorraine D. Sylvia was named vice president of finance and administration at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

• Dan Wagner was named presenter for Laurel Technical Institute campuses in Sharon and Meadville.

• Knowledge Point Academy's Regional Learning Alliance added as knowledge associates: CORA Corp., LTC Consulting and Rae Ann Urick.

Health care

• James P. Whelan joined ESA Biosciences, a Magellan Biosciences company, as vice president of sales and marketing for clinical-diagnostics.

• Dr. Alejandro R. Gonzalez was elected governor of the Pennsylvania Western Chapter of the American College of Physicians, the national organization of internal medicine physicians. Gonzalez is the division chief of nephrology and endocrinology at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital and the medical director of the hospital's Joslin Diabetes Center Affiliate. He is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Temple University School of Medicine's West Penn campus, clinical associate professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, and an adjunct professor of medicine at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

• Nancy Chubb assumed the presidency of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. She has her own psychotherapy practice.

Nonprofits

• William M. Sadecky Jr., a sole practitioner in Lower Burrell, was elected president of the Southwestern Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants for 2008-2009. Other officers elected: President-elect, Thomas J. Rennie, a sole practitioner in Ligonier; vice president, Kathleen L. DeMarchi, owner of DeMarchi & Associates in North Huntingdon; secretary: Brenda M. Dils, a senior budget analyst with Allegheny Energy in Greensburg; treasurer: Deborah K. Nicholas, controller of TJS Mining Inc. in Shelocta.

• The Mediation Council of Western Pennsylvania elected attorneys David Breen, Laura Candris, Sally Cimini, Mark Greenblatt, Jean Lupariello, Michael McDowell, and Glenn Schillo as directors to its board for 2008-2009.

• Vince S. Dimsa was named executive vice president and chief financial officer of River Consulting.

• Professional Service Industries Inc., Pittsburgh operations office, promoted Jeff Zubik to geotechnical engineering and drilling services department manager, promoted Chris Crum to project specialist and hired Greg Deitt as a staff engineer.

• The Pittsburgh Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners elected for 2008-2009 as officers: President, James S. Fellin; vice president, Diane Matthews; treasurer, Kelvin Pier; and secretary, Shelley Bias. Elected as directors: John Elliott, Georgene Fink and Craig Workman.

• Both Pauldie Howrigan and Steven Seago were named senior vice presidents, national account directors at ServiceLink.

• 2rw Consultants Inc. hired Jim Kueck as senior project engineer.

• Officers elected to the board of directors of Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta: Chairman, John Bonassi, vice president and general manager of business development, L. Robert Kimball, Architects and Engineers; vice chairman, Joe Kirk, chairman, Point of Pittsburgh Sailing League; vice chairman, J.D. Fogarty, development director, Port of Pittsburgh Commission; secretary, Don Brown, retired Port Authority real estate executive; assistant secretary and general counsel, Greg Harbaugh, partner, Houston Harbaugh P.C.; and treasurer, Dennis Tubbs, aquatic resources program specialist, Southwest Region, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

• Gannett Fleming's Pittsburgh geotechnical services group manager Terry L. Downs was elected vice president of American Society of Civil Engineers, Pittsburgh Section. Elected directors of the society were Jason J. McBride, assistant project manager, municipal services group, and Andrew L. Deao, geotechnical designer, geotechnical services group, both of Gannett Fleming Pittsburgh.

• Vector Security Inc. promoted Pamela J. Petrow to chief operating officer and Michael T. Grady to executive vice president.
